In this part of my Home Gym Buyers Guide series I look at the different types of flooring media available to the consumer, covering the most suitable types.
I look at plywood, foam tiles, rubber mats, stable mats and of course, lifting platforms. Lifting platforms are VERY expensive but you can actually make your own for a fraction of the cost by following the instructions on this website:
Be sure to check Strength Shops clearance section every Thursday as the often have flooring for very cheap prices:
A few basic ideas of suitable materials for flooring in a home gym are:
Rubber stable mats (used for horses, very thick)
18mm or thicker Plywood
General "soft mats" for gymnastics, good for general coverage
Workshop mats
Thick rubber sheeting, available from industrial suppliers
Hope this helps when choosing your flooring for your own home gym!
Thanks for watching!
